More Vintage PC Cards Arrive

I do a daily search of Virdon stuff on eBay.  For years these next two items have not been listed even once.  Oddly enough both of them appeared at the same time.  (different sellers)

This is a 1962 Shirriff Coin.  I didn't think I would ever see one of these.  When I did I pounced and outbid everyone.  I still thought I got a good deal though.  It looks exactly like the more common Salida coin.  Same picture and everything.

The only difference is the back has Shirriff Potato Chips on it instead of Salida.  Shirriff is or was a Canadian chip company so the seller I got this from was from north of the border.

The second Virdon card I received in the mail was a 1962 Jello card.  It looks exactly like the Post Canadian card only it doesn't have the Post logo at the top.  Evidently Jello wasn't sold near as much as other Post products cause in over 2 years this is the first one that has been listed on eBay.  It cost me about $9 after shipping.

A Quick Trade With Tomahawk Chopping

Opening Day card of opening day starter Jon Lester.
My 2nd Heritage Card is Big Papi.  He brought his bat so far in April, too bad the rest of the team left theirs in Ft Myers.  (Well, Gonzalez brought his too)
I really like these Wal Mart Parallel cards.  Too bad Topps had to screw that up when they quit putting  them out in blasters by themselves.
Thanks for the great cards Derek.

Seriously, Nobody Has an 86 Donruss Oil Can Boyd for trade.

For about a year now the #1 card on my Top 10 Most wanted list has been a 1986 Donruss #50 Oil Can Boyd.  I don't know if nobody ever looks at the list or what.  Maybe I need to make it bright yellow or something so someone looks at it.  That or maybe nobody wants to part with it because it is so awesome.  Doesn't Mr Boyd look like a pimp on this card?  Satin jacket, big sunglasses, if only that was a fur instead of a towel around his neck.

1986 was the year that the Sox played a game in foggy Cleveland one evening and "Oil Can" said, "That's what they get for building a ballpark on the ocean."  Classic

Don't forget you can still get in my O-Pee-Chee box break...

A Package From A Long Time Trade Partner

I recently received a package from long time trade partner Heartbreaking Cards.  Matt was the 2nd blogger I ever traded with a few years ago.

I'm writing this post 4 days before you are reading it.  That means that Pedroia just went yard and the Sox finally won their first game.  Oh, and Manny is retired to...  This is my first 2011 Heritage card.  I wish I could finish the team set but I know better.  I haven't finished off a Heritage team set yet.  I'm close on a few years (one card short of 07, the team card) but those SPs elude me.  I'm sure 2011 will be the same way.

This is some kind of Bowman Blue Refractor.  I didn't even know that Bowman had different colored refractors until I got this one in the mail. It is actually really good looking.

I don't understand why nobody wants this Bobby Doerr card.

This is my 3rd copy of the black bordered Doerr.  I own like 7 black bordered Red Sox cards and 3 of them are the same thing.  That means 3 people sent him to me in trades cause.  Doesn't anyone like Doerr??  So I think I just may have to send this to Mr Doerr.  I hear he is a great TTM guy and I haven't done a TTM since I was a kid.  Actually I have only sent out 3 TTMs ever.  Two were returned signed and one was returned unsigned.  I'm sure nobody will ever guess who they were.  The 3 I sent out were Christian Okoye, Bruce Smith, and Reggie White.  Of the 3 Okoye was the only one that didn't sign my card but he did return it.  It was long ago; 1988 to be exact.  Now when I send this to Doerr should I have him sign it in black or silver Sharpie??

Thanks for the cards Matt and for being the instigator to me sending a TTM to a hall of famer.

Don't Forget the 1987 O-Pee-Chee Group Break.  There are still teams left.  If you don't know what I am talking about click here.
