New Hobby?

Sorry all, once again a post with no cards, or at least minimal cards. I haven't acquired any new cards lately and since I just did a giant reorganization, I haven't really touched my cards since then. I've been doing other things.

I've never mentioned this on here before but something I have collected, for years and years, is Edgar Rice Burroughs books. I must have mentioned it in a comment on someone's blog once though because somewhere along the way, somebody sent me some John Carter of Mars cards. That picture is a big chuck of them. But showing them off isn't why i took the picture.  Neither is my 2004 Red Sox Autograph project sitting on top. (A few cards after all) No, this is a picture of the bookshelf itself.  I picked it up of Marketplace over a year ago for free. It lamented in the garage for about 9 months but no longer.

It wasn't just a being it on the house and put books on it though.  It was in kinds of rough shape. As i kid I remember "helping" my father refinish some furniture so i mind of knew that Iwas doing and dad was a phone call away.  I unfortunately didn't take pictures of the shelf before I started. I do have one that was still on marketplace listing.

That same top after I got done with it.

Not perfect but acceptable. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you look at it, I just acquired a bunch more Tarzan books from the 20s and 30s and my new shelf is already too small.  I need one more row to fit the rest of my Burroughs books now. So I'm on th lookout for a five row shelf  to work on.

Before that though I have a hope chest to finish for my daughter's Christmas present. She doesn't read this so no worries about her finding out before Christmas.  So I guess I have a new hobby.

Also, if anyone is interested is some Edgar Rice Burroughs books I have a dozen or so doubles to trade.
