In Person Trade with Rhubarb Runner

I meet up with fellow blogger Rhubar Runner at a card show in St Louis. We exchanged pleasantries and then exchanged packages. I don’t look at what was inside until I took my kids to Chucky Cheese afterwards. I was blown away by the stuff that David had packaged up for me.

I didn’t comment by each one because I was stunned speechless to receive so many vintage cards. That isn’t all of them he sent either. I had them all scanned before I had computer problems. As soon as I scanned them I put the 74s in my binder. Then I lost all the scans and didn’t remember which ones I had from before and which came from David. I'll just say there were a ton of 74s.  Almost the whole team set.

I noticed another cool thing from his package. If you look at the return address below, it says B Snider. B Snider is none other than Play at The Plate. The actual ship to address is Woodbury MN. I can’t think of who that is but I know that I have traded cards with someone in Woodbury MN. That makes me at least the 4th blogger with this particular box. (Play at the Plate, Mystery Blogger form MN, Rhubarb and then me

Since I have a large amount of cards I need to ship to someone next week I think I will use this same box. I’m also going to write the other 3 blogs names inside the box before I mail it. (That is if I figure out the Woodbury address) Then hopefully whomever I trade it to will use it to trade with someone else and so on. Hopefully one day it will come back with a whole bunch of blog names wrote in it. (Not to mention full of Red Sox)

Thanks for the awesome cards David. I’ll find something to send you that evens us up.

(By the way, has anyone else noticed how many Card Blogging Dave/Davids there are? I can think of at least 4.)

I like to reuse the mailers/boxes as much as possible - why not? I think our Woodbury, MN (nice city) collector is gcrl, dude.

And still no mention of the Pop Tarts glossies!

VERY NICE! I have never a blogger face to face before NOR have I recieved a whole mess of awesome vintage like that... Nice haul! I have a package for you that beats the heck out of the last one I sent you... Oh, yes, there are a TON of Davids, many Stevens too... You are the only Adam that I can think of though...

Sorry I couldn't scan the Pop Tarts my kids ate them; except for the one that got smashed in the carpet by my 2 year old. I wasn't in a picture taking mood when I found it though.

Troll - This was by far the most vintage I got in a trade before. I have almost always bene the only Adam. I never worked with another Adam or even went to school with another Adam. I did have a friend eith a little brother named Adam though.

You opened those cards in Chuckie Cheese's??

I'm surprised they're intact.

I just checked and that Woodbury, MN box is indeed the one I sent to GCRL. I think it's fun that it's making the rounds. I actually received the same padded envelope from two different blogger. I received it the first time it was used. Recycled it in a trade and then got it back from a completely different blogger another time. Who says card collectors aren't environmentally friendly. Or maybe it's just that we're trying to save a buck here and there.

That same box was mailed off to another Red Sox Collector today full of cards. Written inside is that it had already visited Play at the Plate, GCRL, Rhubarb, and T&S. There is also a note enclosed asking the person receiving to Pay it Forward.

I think that's a great idea. Reminds me of the old steamer trunks with the labels pasted on it from all sorts of different ports.

wha...?! word verification: "readme"
